Tom’s younger brother, Sam, composed this tribute to his brother.
Thomas Hovland Breske, age 19, died Friday, June 7, 2013. A scripture service and Mass of Christian Burial took place at the Church of St. Mary in Sioux Falls, SD, followed by a committal at St. Michael Cemetery.
Anyone who has ever met Tom Breske experienced an unparalleled phenomenon. He supplied an energy that varied greatly in expression but never in magnitude.
Tom loved everyone without exception. Such rare and powerful love is often misinterpreted as eccentricity, a trait that Tom would claim with pride. His unique sense of humor and severely contagious laugh never failed to warm the coldest of hearts.
Tom will be dearly missed by a multitude of friends, acquaintances, and teachers, as well as anyone who had the pleasure of interacting with him. His parents Marie and Dennis; brothers Sam and Ben; grandparents Marian Breske and Jim and Marie Hovland; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles will forever hold Tom in their hearts.
It goes without saying that Tom’s death is a tragedy. Although he was taken from us early, the past 19 years have been the gift of a lifetime.
One of a kind. Loved by all.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Tom’s honor at The Sioux Falls Catholic School System.
